2 piece cobia rod question?
So this winter I'm thinking about building myself a 2 piece cobia rod and wonder if anyone uses one or has had any problem with one. The reason I want a 2 piece is for travel purposes and because it will be a dual purpose rod for me. I want to use it in the gulf for cobia and up here in Ar for big stripers. My home lake has a very good striper population with many fish in the 40-50lbs class. I will be using this rod for casting 10-14in shade and big artificials from the bank of a damn. The Tod I use now just cant reach the fish I want so I'm thinking of a 10ft 2 piece rod. I would rather have an 11ft rod but I wouldn't feel comfortable with a rod that big on the pier. So my main question is has anyone had any problems cobia fishing with a 2 piece rod?

I used to use a two piece rod for the same reasons you want to build one. Mine was a 9' St Croix and 9' wouldn't fit in the SUV for travel. I had no issues with it and could cast as far as I needed. I don't think an extra foot is a big deal.

I personally have never seen someone cobia fishing with a two piece but I don't see it being a problem. Try it out and let us know!
