7 strand knot ?

I have always used single strand AFW for toothy fish, but I have been browsing the archives and see that alot of people use 7 strand. The small roles of seven strand seem like they would be easier to store and transport than the plastic bags that single strand comes in. I was thinking about trying it out. I fish the surf, bay, and pier. I do not have a fishing cart because we have limited room in the truck once it's loaded with luggage, rods, kayaks, bikes, etc. on our vacation trips so I transport all of my tackle & bait in a 5 gallon bucket with a shoulder strap. Sometimes storage becomes an issue, usually because I take more gear than I really need fishing with me instead of only taking what I need and leaving the rest in the condo, but who doesn't. My question is this. How do you tie 7 strand wire to lures, hooks, & swivels. I know that it can be crimped but if tying it works fine that would be a better option for me than having to keep crimps on hand, which would be something else for me to have to store.

I've had good luck running it through the hook eye twice and then tying it in an overhand knot. Pull snug. Think there's a tutorial on here somewhere with pics

I read on hear that a single overhand knot would hold but just wanted to make sure, and I also saw that some used a figure 8 loop knot. I my mind is just doesn't seem very secure but I haven't tied one up and tugged on it yet. But, if ya'll say it works good your definitely more experienced than me so I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the quick reply. We are heading down Sunday & I would like to only have to go by the tackle store once, I save more $ that way!

As Rich1 said, simple overhand knot. I use 20 lb. 7 strand for leaders on Gotchas and Looney Jigs. Never had one come untied. Use Albright knot to attach leader to main line, or the smallest flat black swivel you can find. Go to J&M Tackle and they will set you up.

I use the figure eight knot and have NEVER had one come undone.
