Schweet Hammer!
I'm glad it popped the leader, I hope it wasn't too done in and survived the encounter.
I'm not beyond keeping a nice Black Tip or Atlantic Sharpnose for the BBBQ, but the bigger ones need to be C&R.
Re: 9 foot Hammerhead from PCB
i agree 100% we have taken only 2 shark for food ... all the others big and small were reeled in and released green... we caught a 7 foot hammer the next night and from the time of setting the hook to release was 12 min! thats what a Penn international 70vs does for ya lol

I caught a ten foot hammer once and it was the best shark I'd ever eaten.
Re: 9 foot Hammerhead from PCB
:headbang:, as long as it got :eat: and not wasted.
Too many just get wasted for want of some cool pics.
Re: 9 foot Hammerhead from PCB
It worked out great. There were fourteen men on a jackup barge that jad one hell of a cook. It saved a lot of money on the boat's grocery budget and the cook and capitan were able to splurge on some prime ribeyes which weren't normaly in the budget. Everyone brought home meat when we rotated out too.
