Braid for surf fishing
So far I have used mono on all my rigs, but after listening to Pier#r last week on Alabama saltwater fishing report I plan to put braid on one. Any advice on color? Does hi vis affect the number of bites? Also what knot to use for braid to leader?
Thanks!

I use hi-viz for bait, but if I was throwing lures I'd use copolimer or a neutral braid. I would always use a leader of mono/floro with braid, starting at a couple of feet, because of bottom/sinker abrasion as much as visibility.
Water clarity and light level impacts the length of leader you need between the (hi-viz or regular) braid and the bait/lure. Clarity and light level also impacts choice of leader thickness and/or material (florocarbon vs mono). [The wire bite-length for toothy fish at the end of the mono/floro should be as short and thin as possible while still stopping biteoffs but is far less needed in the surf unless Spanish or blues are common.]
I use loop to loop connections between main line and leader so I can switch rigging faster and minimize hardware. I'd tie a double surgeon's loop on main line and on leader for smaller fish but I can tie a bimini in the main line if larger fish were the target. An Alberto knot, Albright, or double-uni would also work.

Thanks for listening Fishr! Glad to know somebody does ;-) lol
To clarify for you, I use 20# Power Pro (green) on my 11 foot rod & Penn Spinfisher V 4500.
And 15# Power Pro (green) on my 10 foot rod & Penn Spinfisher V 3500.
These are my 'set rods' for throwing pompano rigs most of the time.
I have never tried hi-vis braids.
I use the Trilene Knot to attach braid to swivel on the rigs.
