Is it just personal preference or is one better for kings? For me it seems even the tiniest phosphate swivel will often get clipped when fighting a fish. The swivel seems a bit easier to tie (especially when you've lost a rig and everyone else is hooking up!) but the Albright knot seems to get less cut offs. I see more swivel rigs, just curious what y'all think.
You are right that skipping the swivel seems to give a little advantage on cut offs. On the other hand, swivels are quick and easy to use. I'm not sure what advantage people think they are getting by using expensive swivels, though. Seems to me that shiny ones may attract more cut offs, and what use is a super strong swivel when your main line is rated #15?
I use an Albright when I have time and the water is clear (and the fish seem picky), but I seem to get more breaks at the loop in the wire (seven strand and single wire) unless I have time to really get the knot right. If the wraps are not really snug it seems they push the line up against the wire under pressure (light wire and 14 lb line).
