Another Novice Headed to the Pier

I am new to the Forum. And I am glad I found it. During my vacations to the coast the last couple of years, I would wander to the GSSP. I watched. I stayed out of other folks way. I fished. I actually stumbled into catching a few fish. But I quickly realized that I didn't know anything.

In preparation for my trip this coming week I luckily found this Forum. It is awesome. The best news for me is that I've lined up pier#r, thanks to all the advice from here.

I look forward to learning and having fun this coming week. And I'll try very hard to stay out of everyone's way. :)

Getting in each other's way is part of the fun. Wind, big fish, and lots of people makes a mess. But it is a glorious mess.

I had the privilege, to spade fish with pier#er, this June. You could not ask for a better person to share the rail with.

Thanks David (#r). You did a great job. He could have given me fish, but instead, he taught me to fish. And it worked. I caught several Spanish. I didn't make it out to the octi. I didn't have the right gear. But I certainly will have the right gear the next time I visit the pier. I plan to catch a king one of these days. I caught a flounder in the surf, using the knowledge David provided. It was a great week fishing and meeting folks. Thanks for the advice and kindness. Now, if y'all will just do something about those dang remoras :)
