Anyone up for some beach/yak sharking across the FL line soon?
i dont have the big tackle, but wouldnt mind sticking a few rays for bait and paddling out baits... and if anyone with a yak wants to join, a few people i know will probably do a yak shark trip... (If your new to yakking i wouldnt suggest it)

yes you do need a florida license. But IMHO it is well worth it... there are a ton of great land based areas to fish in FL very close to the state line.

Re: Anyone up for some beach/yak sharking across the FL line soon?
I believe if you are fishing from shore in Florida that you don't have to have a license.
Re: Anyone up for some beach/yak sharking across the FL line soon?
7. Do nonresident anglers qualify for the shoreline license?
No. The shoreline fishing license is available to Florida residents only. Nonresident saltwater anglers must purchase a regular nonresident saltwater fishing license at $17 for three days, $30 for seven days or $47 for one year, regardless of whether they fish from shore or a vessel. These prices include administrative fees, but handling fees are additional.

When might you be planning said gig, depending on interest of course.
I'm interested.
I've a 6/0 spooled with 425yrds 50#mono, 50yrds 80#mono topshot on 6.5' Master Custom Striker with front/rear rollers.
One hellacious leader rigged to go and a whole Mullet in the freezer.

Dang'it boy, am I not even worthy of an, "I don't know you, bugger off." reply? :poke1:
I know Saltfisher was interested in feeding some poor malnourished sharks.
Re: Anyone up for some beach/yak sharking across the FL line soon?
Peaches I will be down the weekend of the 15th and my 50W should be fixed by then and ready for some toothy critters. I also have a deep freezer full of bones as well.
Re: Anyone up for some beach/yak sharking across the FL line soon?
Hey peaches, just let me know when you can. Would love to Saturday or Sunday night. Got to work tomorrow, and sat morning but I'm off sunday and monday. Got to get all the fishing in I can the next 2 weeks.

Give me a couple of weeks to catch up on this wood working and I'll be ready to line a beach with surf rods and lanterns...Might need to catch a few bluefish for bait or go to the marina for some big fish heads.
Heres an old pic..we spent the early afternoon catching blues then turned them into sharkbait that night...Kind of hard to do that these days with all of the night swimmers there...I think it might be illegal in Orange Beach now as well.

Re: Anyone up for some beach/yak sharking across the FL line soon?
Chumming and Sharking from the beach is technically outright banned in Alabama in general.
The wording of the law gives Carte Blanche to whichever authority in deciding if they'll screw you or not, as they decide what constitutes 'Unsafe Condition'.
Chumming is just out of the question, they'll nail ya.
As for sharking, be inconspicuous, be fishing for Bull Reds or big Rays, anything but specifically targeting sharks.
"WOW! We caught a shark! I didn't know there are sharks out here?"
I've not had any hassles yet while exercising common sense on the beach.

“It shall be unlawful within three hundred feet of the shoreline, or on a public pier, or on a private pier where an unsafe condition is created, on or in waters of Alabama under the jurisdiction of the Marine Resources Division as provided by Rule 220-2-.42, to fish for or target sharks or any species by those methods commonly known as ‘chumming’ or ‘bloodbaiting.’
“For purposes of this regulation, ‘chumming’ shall be defined as the throwing of bait or fish parts into the water to attract fish.
“For purposes of this regulation, ‘bloodbaiting’ shall be defined as the use of blood, chemical or synthetic attractants, fish parts, chicken parts or other animal parts to attract fish or sharks.
“It shall be unlawful, on or adjacent to the waters of Alabama under the jurisdiction of the Marine Resources Division as provided by Rule 220-2-.42, for any person to surf fish for sharks, bow fish for sharks, or fish for or target sharks by any other means from any pier or beach in such a manner that presents an unsafe condition to any beach goers, sun bathers, swimmers, or any other person.”
