Jigs in the surf
So how many of you fish them and what is the big deal with pompano jigs anyway?
Ive used several lures from the surf along with live bait but I've never tried a pompano jig. What are you trying to imitate, a baitfish, shrimp, or crab? How do you fish them? Do you add a plastic trailer, piece of live bait, or go without?
ThanksBrandon

Pompano jig is basically imitating a sand flea.
It doesn't usually hurt to tip it with a chunk of fresh shrimp, sandflea or even Fish Bites.
Goofy jig or Silly Willy imitate a ghost shrimp chasing a small minnow.
You can tip the main jig, but it's much more 'mobile' without it.

Hope this helps!(RETIRED) mostly.
