I really like BHunter's idea of using the ratchet strap to fasten the whole apparatus to the cooler without drilling holes. That's thinking outside the box---no pun intended.

Thanks haywire. Just tried to figure out how to have a general use cooler and fishing cooler combined.

I bought a collapsible cart (both the handle and the base are telescopic), and I have loved having the extra space. The main difference that it makes is providing enough room to hold a bait bucket in front of the cooler.
So far, I've always gone to the pier with a friend, so that one of us carries rods and the other handles the cart, one of these days we'll have to make some rod holders too. Good ideas mentioned here for that!

What kind of cart crosshairy? A regular fishing cart, or like a 2 wheeler type cart? Inquiring minds want to know. I'm already getting chewed for the amount of stuff I intend to bring on this trip, so I'm hesitant to even bring up the idea of a cart.
