Just out of curiosity, anyone know what the largest/heaviest fish caught on the pier was?

If sharks don't count, I would bet it would be a cobia. Didn't someone land a 80#er in recent years?
Biggest kings on the old pier were a couple of 50#er's, Dennis Rice caught one of them, not sure who caught the other. Don't think a 50# king has been caught on the new pier.Carl

The ONLY sailfish caught on the old pier weighed 45#
To my knowledge no cobia even near 100# has ever been landed on the GSPPier (a few over 50-60# though)
So I'd have to say the biggest (excluding sharks) would be a tarpon.
I know Chris Eberly landed one in July 1978 that weighed 110#
One of several over 100# landed in the days before any limits were imposed on them.(RETIRED) mostly.

My guess would be the hammerhead that was caught long before I started fishing out there. I believe that is the reason that shark fishing is banned out there.
