Snagged a nice old Daiwa B-250 on Letgo. I'm a fan of these old Japanese Tanks, but don't know a bunch about them other than they seem smoothe as silk.
Any one have one/used one? I think it's about 500/5000 size???

I do in silver if that would be the same...noisy with the anti-reverse in.....I've several but don't use them, like other reels I no longer use

In the middle 1970s I passed on the Mitchells and bought the whole Daiwa Silver series.
In fact the SS No.1 was the first ultralite reel that truely endured the rigors of saltwater fishing for me.
I still have them all (including the 7000 I made 'bailess') and they a still work pretty well despite decades of neglect.
I had a silver one for years, Pop bought it back ~1980, came on a great 2-piece rod. Used it for years on the piers and on my offshore boat.
It was a great reel, brought in a lot of fish.
Worked perfectly until I bent the shaft somehow in 1993, It wasn't from normal use, I think it got stepped or dropped when unloaded the boat or truck after a long day offshore.
I couldn't find parts back then in the days before you could find anything on the internet, so I chunked it. Which I regret, I could probably find parts now!
The sound of a big silver series Daiwa retrieve is right up there with the squeal of a 706 roller.
I saw your uncle Chris break down a 100# tarpon on a 7000C with a big mirrolure off the old pier once!Quote:
