Does anybody use spinning reels with the Bite-N-Run feature when fishing for Kings or Reds? Sounds handy, but does it help or hinder hooking a fish? Thanks!

yeah a few people at gulf shores fish with the "click click" reels..
id suggest just using a bailed reel, or a manual
bailed reel for me with loose drag.....need to practice with the manuals up here first....would hate to loose a good fish or chance at a ling in the spring trying to get the line on the roller..... from lack of experience with it :boohoo:

The bait runner reels are great if your getting into king fishing. The best ones are the old style Shimano BTR4500,the new style BTR8000 or the Penn 560L Live Liner.

I think they were talking about a bait runner type spinning reel.
If so, yes there are a lot of people that use them. It can be a very handy feature but it isn't much different than running a loose drag on a regular spinning reel or fishing with the bail open and holding the line on your finger.
