Considering putting braid/super line on my 712z, the one I was chunkin' plugs with.
Want to get 300 yards on top of a base of 12# mono.
What brand & # test should I get?

I used power pro until recently when I got a spool of this to try Superpower Yellow PE Dyneema Braid Fishing Line 500M 20lb 0 18mm | eBay It seems to be just as good and about 1/2 the price .
There doesn't seem to be a great love of braid on the pier but it's what I use fresh and saltwater for most of my fishing. I've used Spider Wire, Stren Sonic Braid, and all the versions of Power Pro and have found the Power Pro Slick to be the very best so far. In marine blue it should be visible enough for live baiting and since it is so thin for lb test I use 20# and 30#. If it just wasn't so expensive...
Thanks, good lookin' stuff at a great price. I will probably order the 12 or 16#.
i wouldn't go outside of power pro....
+1 on the power pro. i use 20# on my small spinning reels just because thats the lowest my walmart carries. and 30-50# on my penn's.
Sufix 832 braid is what I am using right now. I have moved to it for braid 65# and under and really like the quality over what I have had happen with lighter PowerPro. Also comes in a nice bright orange color that stands out for my eyes better than most of the yellows. I was using it for trolling from the kayak but went back to mono for that application.
I just picked up 2 quantum cabo pt40's that were spooled with braid, looking forward to using them up here....never cared for braid before but the newer super slick braid might change my mind, and light blue I can see it good too
I wouldn't use anything under 20-30, unless you are just flipping your bait around the pilings, it will windknot bad, I had terrible luck with 10lb casting with a spinning rod
