Looking at getting some heavier flourocarbon for using as leader material and wondering if there is any certain brand that you guys would recomend. Thinking in the 40 lb range to reduce getting bitten of when fishing for spanish and other smaller toothy critters?
I like the Yozuri floro. It's expensive but really good stuff.
I use Vanish 40# - #50 . Have never had a problem with it .
I use Seaguar. I've been very successful with it! I bought mine on Amazon and I was satisfied with the price.

But IME fluorocarbon leader gets cut off even faster than clear mono of the same test.
I prefer a trace of light wire to help prevent cut-offs.
I am in love with yozuri hybrid.
BUT, once you reach 40# mono or fluoro, it honestly doesn't matter much if it is a leader line. I've used the cheap mono ones and find them just as strong.
Yozuri hybrid just doesn't fray as bad and holds knots better.
So just a good quality mono would be fine for leaders?
IMHO, yes.
Unless you are in a situation where leader visibility or sink rate are of great importance.
I carry some with me, but only use it when regular clear mono isn't quite good enough.
Right tool for the job, and that stuff is expen$ive ;-)
Well looks like i can save some money then.
I keep a filler spool of 40# Hi Catch mono for Spaniards, 10# & 20# Fluoro line for light leaders, mono main lines.
But I am cheap. :pirate
We drag yo-zuri for tuna and marlin with great success
