Wanting to get opinions on changing out the factory hooks on lures to the bleeding bait (red hooks), I've had good success in doing this for fresh water. Also thinking about Changing the rear treble hooks on my saltwater lures to the feather or hair hooks to make the lures mimic fish tails!
I'm sure that there are experts who would answer differently but I believe the red hook thing is a marketing gimmick. I would be more concerned with changing out light wire factory hooks to 3x or 4x strong that are more suitable to the harder pulling saltwater fish.

I've experienced no difference with hook colors. I use cheap fresh water hard bait minnows behind my bubble rig. I replace the wire hooks with 3X strong No. 6 treble hooks. If you buy salt water X-Raps or Yo-Zuri, just leave the hooks on.
Red is the first color of the color spectrum to disappear underwater. I think red hooks have caught more fisherman than fish.
Don't overthink things...when it's as simple as tying a hook onto a leader and putting a short length of a McDonald's drinking straw on the line, there's no need to buy into gimmicks

What amazes me is the sharpness of the hooks these days
Keep missing fish on my little x-rap behind bubble so I put bigger hooks on them. Seems to work better also had a King swallow a cheap jerk bait last week and broke it in two.
I've been changing out treble hooks on some of my hard bait with VMC inline singles. Multiple trebles always grab on to more than they should.
