I plan to visit the pier in late April or early may for the spanish and maybe the king bite. I, ve been down a few times, but haven't managed a king yet. I'm looking for a cheap hotel room. I don't care much about location, just not too far from the beach. I won't be doing anything but fishing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. See you on the rail!!!
I stay at the micro hotel in Foley. Runs from $65-$100 depending on what's going on in the area. Its nice for the money
Just before the inter-coastal bridge there is a motel called the Country Hearth inn and I think it runs 79 per night with a kitchenette

Microtel is hit or miss as many of the rooms are in a great state of disrepair. I stopped referring friends to them after multiple bad experiences. I can personally vouch for the Holliday Inn Express in Foley. Clean rooms, solid continental breakfast and decent rates. We stayed there for a week while house hunting and had no complaints.
If you want cheap and closer, keep an eye out for deals and vacancies at Days Inn and Beachside Resort Hotel, both in Gulf Shores. You can sometimes get a room for less than a $50 if you book in advance at both of these places. Nothing special about them, but the rooms and sheets were clean when I stayed in them.

The park accommodations are excellent... but fairly expensive at peak season times. Have stayed at the lake side rentals several times and they were great. Too convenient to pass up, but expensive as the year progresses.
