im wanting to get something with a plate reel seat i was thinking a lamiglas 1083m-h but was wondering if it was to little light for ling not sure if 1-3 oz lure weight is enough even though i think most ling jigs are 3oz. should i get something a little more heavy duty or not.... just wanted some opinion before i buy. thanks

My go to cobia rods I buld for people are: Seeker PS85 and PS90, Gatorglass T90L and T90H, Pacbay Rainforest 1068 and 1069, as well as Batson Rainshadow 1068 and 1069. These are probably the most popular cobia rods out there on the piers in the panhandle.

I'm not a fan of plate style reel seats. I don't care for a seat that allows the reel to move around any at all. Plate seats, though they are secure in most cases, don't hold a reel tight enough for my liking. I'm not trying to convince you to change your mind just lettng you know what to expect from your choice. A well informed choice is always te best choice.
You wouldn't be happy with the 1083 not remotely enough ass to keep a big fish out f the pier.. But it is a great snobble rod
The 1083m has the back bone of a snake.I got so mad at mine a couple years ago I chopped it into 4 pieces......
