Thread: Coming down this weekend to fish for the first time, please help!

So I've been out to this pier before as a sightseer and was blown away at all the fish people were catching and have had a craving for it since.

I'm coming down Saturday and need plenty of advice since im a first timer. I will be fully licensed for sure.

My questions are:

What type of cheap rod & reel should I look to get at Walmart?

I'm hoping to catch Red fish among others, so what test pound line should I get, what type/size hooks should I use, what size weights, what bait???

Can I bring my regular freshwater fishing poles? ( Baitcaster & spinning reel)


Of note: I HAVE USED THE SEARCH FEATURE, just trying to get people's up to the moment input. I'm a decent freshwater fisherman and have plenty of gear, just never done saltwater fishing and Im stoked SO PLEASE HELP ME OUT!
