I was looking at buying a pier cart awhile back but then thought about just purchasing a wheeled cooler, like this....All Terrain Cooler 100 Quart. Slap a few rod holders on it and I'm good to go. Instead of having to haul a cart and a cooler I only have to take one.
thats what i did i just bought an igloo cooler bolted 6 rod holders on and was good to go.it has worked fine for me

I started out like that and then move on to a pier cart.
I used to do that but my tackle box soon got to way about 60 pounds so pretty soon i just asked for it for christmas best thing i ever did was ask for it not only can you put a cooler and tackle box but you can put buckets for live bait and anything else you might want to bring if i were u id buy a pier cart.
Thanks southern, if I was closer to the pier and not stuck up here in this frozen wasteland called Wisconsin (lol actually it's pretty nice), I would have definitely bought an actual pier cart. Turns out I bought the Igloo wheeled cooler and will make the best of it. Can serve double duty up here as well as down there. Not to mention our furnace just gave out and now have a $500 repair bill!
Sorry about the furnace man, my parents in KY are going through that now. The cooler will be perfect for the pier with some rod holders bolted on. I see them a lot and they seem to work well for the people who have them. We used to break down our Fish-N-Mate JR for travelling long distances but it took up a lot of space-even when broken down because we still had coolers and everything else. Bring you a plastic snow sled with you to drag begind you on the beach and you'll be set for surf fishing without having to pack too much more. Throw your cooler and tackle box on the sled and take off down the beach. In really soft sand the sleds are as easy to pull as my beach cart with Wheeleez tires.

The wife and I used a cooler with wheels when we were down and it worked pretty good
bolted a few rod holders to it and set the tackle bag and gaff on top and down the pier we went

That is the way I was doing it till I found a used jr. pier cart (50.00)....when the van dies, I will just transport on the reese hitch receiver carrier I made out of stainless for the pier cart and cooler ....rod tube on top attached to the roof rack
I use the pier cart around here for going to ball games to watch the grand kids play and haul stuff out to the far away diamonds with a cooler full of drinks for the kids in the hot summer months
