The cost of camping to fish...

    Hmmmm.....

Didn't make it down last year,.....didn't even buy a local license last year.

First trip to gulf shores for me occurred in 2000. IIRC the site fees at the park were $11 a night,....a spot near the lake.

We recently made a reservation for 8 nights in Oct. at the park,...totaling $840,....$200 of which was taxes.

for a bit of asphalt, a spigot, a dilapidated table, a grill that is never used, and some electricity.....( or you could say a glorified parking space....lol).
    ...Oh,....and a pier pass I think?

For $200 more we can get a house for the same week.

whatever the market (snowbirds with prevost) will bear...lol

    What are your thoughts?

I haven't camped at the park for over 25 years, and costs were spiraling then.
You are right about the house rental.
I cannot imaging how much the new "executive" sites will cost when that opens.
The park is pulling in an incredible amount of money nowadays!
But that is why it is there ;-)

We started camping there in the early 70’s and living over in Mobile, we went there a lot. We’d spend most of the summer there actually. But being a kid, I never paid attention to the cost of much of anything except an ice cream sammich at the camp store. But I’d heard that the prices had dramatically risen. But $200 in taxes? How in the world?
