Costa Del Mar's

All I can say is, "Wow!" I finally got a pair of Costas for the 1st time last week. I had to get prescription, so it was a big decision.

Sat. was my first time getting to use them fishing, and the 2nd I walked on the pier, I could tell the difference. I saw the gulf in a completely different light. I see could see changes in depth. There was a reef or something to the right at the mid octi that I had never seen before. The water was just amazing.

Once I was at the end fishing, I could see Spanish, ladyfish, King, Shark even the Cobia. The 1st Cobia, I pulled my bait away cause I thought it was a shark. Remember, I had never seen a Cobia in the water till Sat.

I could tell what each fish was. It was crazy. I was super excited.

Later in the day, I had my Cobia jig and looked down and there was a huge Cobia right under me. He looked like he was swimming on his side. At first, I didnt throw on him cause I thought he was hooked. Then, I threw on him and let my jig sink. As the jig came back up, so did the Cobia. He was inches away from my jig, but I got caught in a kids line and he turned away. Sonny ended up hooking him.

So, I love these glasses. I still cant get over that Cobia being so close, though.

If yo dont have a pair of Costa's, GET SOME! There is an amazing World underneath the water that you can see. But beware, if you see a Cobia and miss it, it will leave you depressed.

hey have RX dealers on their site. Just be careful. The 1st place I went to told me to go find the Costa frames I wanted and they would pop the lens out and put their lenses in.

I then found a place that ordered the Costa's with 580g lenses with Green Mirror.

Welcome to the family :banana:...Costas are the only shades I'll ever wear.

I got mine in Tampa, cause that is where I am. There are several RX Costa dealers in Baldwin county, though.

It's between 8 and a half and 9 hours for me from Arkansas. I thought, just looking at a map, that it must be about the same drive for you.

It's a bummer, but I've driven further for less.

Thanks again for the Costa info. I did get the 508 glass with Green Mirror.

Hey does anyone know a good prescription sunglasses company besides costas? It was suggested to me to look at cocoons since you can put them over your glasses or get them in prescription. I have yet to find anyone on several fishing forums that have used cocoons or any other brand. Costas are just a bit to pricey for me at the moment :\

Cocoons are tough to fish with imagine twice the lens to clean and fog. Save up and get the Costas.BubBA I am calling tomm about rx 580s in the green mirror!!!!

The good thing about them. They are the same retail no matter what RX place you use. They will be around $536 plus tax. They come with an authentication card that the lenses are in fact 580g. Whoever you go with make sure they are not going to buy Costa frames and put their crappy polarized lenses in. The first place I tried was going to do that.

I think Bay Eyes in Foley is a good RX dealer. A real RX dealer will ask you what frames you want, do you want glass, what color lens and that is it. They then fax it to Costa and Costa does all the work. What you need to do is go somewhere and try on as many frames as you can to make sure you get the right frame for your face. I didnt do this at first. I went and tried on the pair I thought I wanted and they didnt fit! Luckily it was early enough that I was able to get them to change the frames :)

Oh well. I was feeling good that I wasn't the only one willing to drive e that far to fish two days. Congrats on the return.
