Just bought a rod n reel loaded with dacron . It looks ok has a little staining but nothing bad. What is the best way to tell if its still good and what is the best knot to tie into a swiveland leader?

Maybe go out on a limb here and say check it by pulling on it until it breaks. Or doesn't? Not scientific, but its what I do with every kind of line. When in doubt, replace.
Mike Peacher's book diagrams a doubled improved cinch knot as very effective on braid. My best luck has been the Palomar. Don't fish the stuff much. Its not good for crappie and troublesome on the pier, although the more experienced do well with it. Maybe someone else has a better method for testing.
Tried breaking it ,but its heavy line, probably going to hook it to a 4 wheeler and test line and reel at same time. Pulled a 100yrds off and it looks decent down in the spool. Looks like the swivel is tied with a bimini twist and its holding good guess i'll have to learn to tie it
