Considering a daiwa BG 4000/4500 for an all purpose pier reel. With one of my Christmas gift cards its not much out of pocket. Just wondering if anyone here has an opinion or anything good/bad to say about the reel.

Looking at the specs the 4500 holds a bit over 200yd. of 20lb. would be my choice for the bigger boys. The 4000 for the ones that don't run that far. What size rod you plan on using ?
If I can find a 7'6" that I like in a 2 piece I'll use it, otherwise it might be one of the new 2 piece ugly stik tiger rods. I like my one piece rods better (a lot better) but for the sake of travel in a Honda civic...
Last time I was there I used 12 and 14 lb line with no issues- that's what I was planning for next time too.
4000 would work great on 12-14# line. The 4500 is a big step up in size and weight. Its about the same size as my Penn Battle 6000.
