    From deprevation to extortion?

I see on Facebook that there is a rumor that the cost of fishing the new pier will increase greatly. I know it wasn't the State's fault that the hurricane came along, but it has been too long since then for it to have been repaired, Now it would really be a kick in the fork for them to double the fees, as speculated.

That might be the last nail in the coffin for me. I'll be 79 years old when it opens this year and I've had to face the fact that I'm no longer getting old, I'm there. I'm not as tough as Harley Rogers was, and don't think I'll have the stamina to hang in there.

Also, I'm having to face the same problems as fisherpeople from out of the area have to deal with: Affordable places to stay, the high cost of everything, storing the fish you catch and, for me, what to do with the two cats that rule my life. Never gave these things serious consideration when I lived twenty minutes away from the pier, and I heartily apologize for not having more consideration for them.

I am REALLY, REALLY going to miss my pier friends.

I don't know if I'll make it down the fall, and if I do, it will probably be to sell the truckload of pier tackle that I have accumulated. I'll let y'all know when I have the sale, as well as what I have.....there will be many, many bargains.

    More to come.

Is there any indication that this is more than a rumor? Any official rumblings?
    God bless!

Well I think they have about drug their butt so long I have lost the urge to drag my camper back down there, We have a dear friend that owns a mobile home on the border of N&S Carolina,$100 for electric bill and we leave it as clean as we found it. I also put a water line in for the ice maker in the fridge, cleaned the coils on the ac, taped up a window that had a crack, no idea where to find a replacement. My best friend and his wife bought it for a vacation home, before he could finish he had something happen right as covid was getting ready to hit, He might have had it and 3-4 days into it he had heart attack, he didn't recover, his wife and mine are still great friends. Takes about same time to get there I think. fishing is better in the Gulf but the cost of camping is getting higher also. at 62 I don't like the long drives like I did in my youth.
