Generally speaking, what’s the earliest I can expect a decent King presence?

could be March/April depending on water temp and bait.. I used to cobia fish but my buddy john gains hasn't see or caught any the last few years.. they got over fished and don't see them like we used to :-(

2-20-2018 one was caught off the pier, I have seen kings jump out at Ft. Morgan just East of the lighthouse maybe as close as 1/3 mile from shore in March once.

Since the operative word is "decent", I'd say early to mid-April. Typically, the sheepshead "he'n and she'n" gets done by about the end of the first week of April. King bite gets good about that time.

Been working the last couple of days on my world famous IronMan gaff getting the points needle sharp. Not as easy as you would think.
A definite hit on the calendar to come down. I’ve never really fished for the sheepsters but this year I’m determined to give it the old college try. My new and improved ghost shrimp pump is ready to go.👍
