Just wondering what everyone's favorite brand of line is, I've tried a couple different brands of braid but haven't became too fond of any particular brand so far. When it comes to mono the only line I've found that doesn't have terrible line memory is P-line and Trilene. What are yalls experiences?
All I use is 20lbs p-line , catch every thing on it including sharks
Saw a video of a guy on youtube using P-Line and thought I would give it a try. I am still looking for my nitch there too. I will say for braid that I like the PowerPro though.
I mostly use Trilene Big Game 15# Hi-Vis Green on King rigs. 8# to 10# Trilene clear on smaller rigs.
Not a fan of braid, especially on the pier.
I Also favor the Trilene Big Game, Hi Vis green...but since it's usually 6months between trips, it's bad for loop memory. I have to re-spool before every trip.

You may think I'm crazy but for over 40 yrs I have used Bass Pro Shop Excel mono of all pound test $9.99 for 1200-1500 yds Caught everything from 30-35 lb Stripped Bass and Red Fish to 100 lb sharks Many many spanish mackerel blue fish etc as well as Tournament winning Largemouth Bass Best all purpose mono I've every used Strong Durable Easy Casting and lasts a long time

Bass Pro Excel mono is made by Berkley (as in Trilene XL).
Couple that with Bass Pro Line Conditioner (aka Blakemore Reel Magic) and the line should stay more supple for even two years!

Not a braid user. Mono, I use Sufix Tritanium, Gold or Red.

I find braid works well for me on some of my jigging setups, I have a large draw in old dresser that I use for tackle storage full of mono that I've tried over time, Some I liked more for certain applications then others, I've come to like Momoi brand and Berkley Chrome the most.
Momoi Hi-Catch for me has very little memory and about twice the breaking strength of the line rating. I used to use Berkley Big Game like a lot of other people but it seemed after awhile the line would start keeping memory too bad.
What Tato said about the Momoi. It has very low memory and tests waaay above its rating and is the correct diameter for its line rating. It's a little more expensive, but is a terrific value. J&M Tackle is the best source---they will spool it on for you or sell it by the spool.
For the absolute best lack of memory, get Diamond Illusion. Also J&M.

For braid, I like Power Pro Super Slik. Expensive, though. I use it for casting lures. For bubble rigs, where the sharks are liable to eat some of your line, I use regular old Power Pro. I like a Hi Viz line in mono and braid so I and others can see my line for fewer tangles, I hope.
Another thing I like to do is back the line in braid. You get more yardage from braid and then tieing it to mono to be pier friendly.
I have been using Ande premium clear the last few years and it is low memory, strong and durable. I also spray mono (and my reels) with Real Magic which limits water absorption and memory. If there is a down side it may make clear mono more reflective and more visible to sheepshead and specs.
I really like Berkely's ProSpec in mono. Been using it for about 3 years, No problems and love it. They make it in Braid but haven't tried it.
I normally use Trilene XL up north. I bought Trilene Big game Hi vis in 20 lb test yesterday and barely got it of the spool onto the reel. The memory in this stuff must be horrible. I cant imagine it was on the shelf very long. I wont buy it again. It seems like mono in general is getting worse in regards to memory.Quote:

Has anyone ever used Cajun Line? I tried a spool years ago and it had by far the worst line memory I've ever seen, a few people I've talked to since said the same thing.
I have had no trouble with it coming off the spool
There is a fellow that goes up to Canada fishing with us that swears by it, and he catches a lot of walleye with it, but I think it has way to much give to it to get a good hook set. The price is right. I would doubt if it would be good for sheepie fishing.
I went to Academy the other day and ordered some Sunline Flourocarbon in 14lb. 660 yd. spool other day for 17 dollars they delivered it to the house free shipping. What I thought was a great price will have to try it out to see how it works.

I was having problems with Power Pro breaking off and decided to give Tuff Line a try. It is not quite as soft as Power Pro, but my line also stopped breaking.
