First Pompano at Camp Paradise!

My family has been blessed to become the new owners of a small but cozy place in Ft. Morgan. We've been "dressing it up" as it was slightly weathered, and haven't really stayed there much - yet! My 9 year old daughter and 81 year old mother in law have christened the place "Camp Paradise" and so it is!

I joined the forum around the time we purchased, and have read and absorbed advice here and obviously through other sources and vids, and really wanted to catch some pompano and eat those suckers.

Well, my 22 yo son and some of his buddies went down this weekend - caught some big sand fleas, and then - 3 nice pompano! He said they were great eating and the guys are having so much fun they are staying an extra day! Really want to thank the people who started this site and the people who share their knowledge and enthusiasm with noobs like me! Can't wait to get back down for a spell myself. Thanks for the replies! Don't know why the pic came out sideways - too big a file I think. I'll work on that aspect of my posts! Hobie, we are close to done with some outside porch work, then new paint - I'll post some "before and after" pics then and you can tell me what you think!

Serious pomp, congrats!

I fillet the pomp, leaving the skin on (but filleting-out the rib bones) and put it on the grill, skin side down only, of course. I sprinkle a little garlic salt, brush it with butter, and sprinkle just a bit of "Slap Yo Mamma" spice. It'll turn opaque-white when it's done. There's not a more delicious fish than grilled pompano!

Bet it will great and just what I'm dreaming of. And go out and catch dinner, shoot...
