Well I've had about 6-7 hooks in me one went into the joint of my finger had. To see a doc over that one. A couple was ER visit and the rest I just yanked out. Snagged a 1 1/2 ounce jig in a tree and yanked it out and it flew back and hit me in the mouth and chipped a tooth. Feel on rocks and cut my head open. And of course several fish fins in my hands.
Gotcha plug THROUGH my left ear lobe and hung like an ear ring before I got it yanked out, very painful, but makes for a good story lol
Severed ligament on my right index finger from a king mackerel's teeth
I have too many to mention, but my top 3 are- 3) catfish dorsal fin going all the way through the "web" of my fingers. The amount of blood on my clothes was ridiculous. 2) May 2004 out at the rigs and discovering why they are called snappers. De-hooking that thing and that mouth popped out so quick I didn't know what got a hold of me. 1) 14 ft. jon boat with the battery in the back fell off the trailer and onto my legs....
A treble hook buried into my foot that was one painful injury
Another one of mine is a stupid sail cat fin going through my hand
Here is Beau's do-it-yourself body piercing!

Pcb pier around 12 yrs ago a teenager had left three brand new black leaders wit black hooks hung on inside of the front rail. i made my first cast of my first day and got a belly button piercing. It went all the way in past the barb. Had to cut the one hook off the other three and push it out thru the other side. Guy watching got weaker in the knees than i did when i pushed it thru.
Well I've seen lots of good injuries from hooks come in the ER, but my all time fav was when I was about 12, I rared back with a ole zebco and a rattle trap and went to cast but got snagged on something behind me. To lazy to look back I made 3-4 sharp jerks on the rod. By then the fishing partner with me began screaming from behind me. I looked back to find both trebles in his scalp... After a bloody trip to the Er with My friend Blake, I decided that I wanted to be a nurse lol. So fishing injuries directly influenced my career choice.
Went fishing on a boat with a friend that cant drive a boat got thrown off and got all my rods in my leg but one Attachment 1088
Then as I was getting my big ass in the boat I had a boat cleat go into my foot as I got back inAttachment 1089 Went in the side and popped out in the center of my foot Attachment 1090 And yes it hurt like a Mother
I've had the usual hardhead spines to the hand, braid cutting into the flesh of hand and wrist leadering a big fish solo in a kayak and it decided to head for East Texas, hooked more times than I can remember, knee busted on trailer hitch ball. Worst was dislocating my right shoulder when I slipped/fell at the boat ramp and had to walk my fishing partner through how to reduce it. ER nurses are the worst about actually going to the ER when we need to. We finished the day with flatties on ice so it was still a god day in my book.
Wilson...you take the trophy by a long shot. I have never seen a boat cleat vs. foot. When you do something, you do it right brother!
With the way people leave gaffs lying around, I am waiting for the day that someone ends up with one in their foot, or even worse if they fall.
Wade fishing before daylight in the early spring for striped bass, Super Spook with upsized Gamagatsu hooks. Trying to unhook a 16lbs or so fish and he slipped and ran a prong of one treble into the bone in the center of the end of my "bird" finger. The fish was thrashing like crazy and I finally managed to cut the hook loose from the plug and get the fish off. The next day I shot a nail through the finger next to it, put a damper on my fishing for a bit...
Luckily I've never suffered anything severe but the worst most painful one was a gotcha hook in the hand with a flopping spanish still on the other hook on the gotcha. The second worst was getting a jelly tentacle slung onto my face from a tourist. OUCH.
Just your typical stuff for me hook in the leg, hook in the shoulder, and about a 1 oz egg sinker to the eye after it did a number on my sun glasses.
another one was when i was throwing castnet at dark got a jellyfish tentacle on my whole face
I don't count unless your in the ER :congratulatory:
Yup. Was standing about 12" away when that line popped and that sinker turned into a bullet. Not often you see an eyeball bleed.
I've had so many it's impossible to remember them all. One that stands out is dropping a 3 lb channel cat and the dorsal spine buried about 3/4 of an inch in the top of my bare foot. That pretty much sucked.
Did end up in ER to get the broken spine out and tetnus shot. Not sure which one hurt worse.
I keep my tip protectors on too, but also keep it in a safe place. Unfortunately I've seen too many cut ankles and feet due to just plain dumbassedness. FYI for anyone wondering about the hose - Lowes/HD has that tubing, in different sizes, on rolls for a very small price - definitely less that a buck a foot.. Two pieces about 18" each is all you need.
got my roll at a garage sale ....really wanted the larger hose so this was a bonus....now being used for a good cause...as stated..... all but 1 will have protectors....I ran out of the roll....this was an extra anyway
yep 3 feet....at .80 a foot....is a small price to pay to make things safer for all....but you have to use them too
Other than a few fish spines and shallow hooks here and there... Apparently I've been darned careful & lucky, cause some of these just make me cringe.
One of the most memorable was when I gaffed a 50# cobia that was a little bit green, and as I was trying to get him into the fish box (on a boat) he slammed his bony head down on my foot, then used his tail to pop me real good right in the goolies. I threw him in the box, but it took me a while to uncurl off the deck afterward. I didn't know whether to limp or hobble.
I've had a king peel the skin back off the big knuckle of my middle finger like he used a straight razor. I got a #2 treble in the back of my hand last summer, and, like slandeerhunter, got to watch the man helping me get it out turn white and roll up his eyes when I pushed it through. Considering the large amount of time I've spent fishing during my lifetime, I've had remarkably few injuries other than minor self-inflicted cuts and punctures along with some spectacular contusions from falls and general clumsiness.
It was a 1/2 oz egg. http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/fi...y-emoticon.gif
stud spanish did "the worm" in the net and finished its dance move on my index finger..strait to the bone too lol at the pierhouse they told my to be more careful i only have 9 more fingers and its a 15 fish limit....
I had a shark on line and guy next to me told me to pop the line and like an idiot i did. The trebile hook shot up and stuck in my head near my temple. Nobody would even think about pulling it out so off to the ER. Had to have it cut out and after 3 hrs back to pier we went. Funny part is guy who told me to pop it off did same thing but it stuck in his hand. Leason learned I will never pop one off anymore hooks don't cost that much.
one of my that made me smile was a friend on mine was fishing with me using a fly rod I was 20 feet down the bank when he turned and started to throw down shore line when he set the hook in my back on a back cast he thought that was too funny me not so much but has luck would have the next weekend we were fishing again when he hook a stump a yanked it out only to land in the tree behind us with that came a few bad word and a harder yank sent it right into his head so hard it tore his skin for a half inch so as I rolled in the bottom of the boat laughing he tells me it not funny all I say is payback suck so it did take several attempts to pull it out with pliers good times
