Fishing Little Lagoon

We are coming down in Sept. and might be staying on Little Lagoon just past the west pass bridge.
There is a fishing pier at that complex (Sea Oats). Does anyone know how the fishing is around that area.
I'm just hoping to catch some white trout, flounder, reds, etc.?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't fished it in many moons, but the pier there used to be nicely lit. Was a nice late night speck spot. Live bait and quiet.

From my previous 4 years of staying in other spots along that same stretch of Lagoon, I can say that the early morning/ late evening times often have nice sized speckled trout cruising around. After dark, find some place with lights, and fish shrimp, bull minnows, or even cut bait. I have caught speckled trout and a couple redfish using all 3 types of bait (only place I've ever caught speckled trout on cut bait was in Little Lagoon, but it happened several times).

There are also catfish, rays, and flounder in the lagoon. I have been told that Sea Oats has some good deep water pockets beside its pier(s), and that the speck fishing is pretty good at night. Hopefully we'll both have some good stories to tell after our trips!

I'm going to Gulf shores and staying at Sea Oats in a couple of weeks. I plan to try some fishing as well. Night fishing is probably out, but will try some early morning or evening fishing. I've did a lot of freshwater fishing, but no saltwater to speak of. Any advice on bait and method (bottom, sinker weight, hooks, etc) for trout would be appreciated. Thanks

We own at Sea Oats and yes the speck fishing is great at night. We have mercury vapor lights on the ends of the piers. The pier on the left looking toward the lagoon is surrounded by a little deeper water and under the light is a deeper pocket. We are lucky that our condo faces that pier so you can see them crashing bait before you get off the couch to fish. Thanks for the info NashSteve! How do you fish for the trout or flounder? Do you fish on bottom, a little off bottom, and what type of bait? Looks like a nice condo....we'll keep it in mind!

For Specks I like fishing live shrimp with as small of hook as you can get away with on the edge of the light. Trick is to be quite.. no stomping around and when hooked up try to minimize the trout splashing to keep the fish around. For a flounder set up I would visit J&M and ask them for a good Flounder rig.. jig head setup or live bait.. Those folks will help you out on speck hook selection too. Good Luck!
