Fishing the Pass

I have been fishing GS for over 40 years. I come 4 or 5 time a year and I always spend some time ( looking) at the people fishing the pass. It use to be easy to just drive up and sit on a tail gate and fish.
All the years I went to the pass I never saw a fish caught. I have been in a boat and caught tons of fish in that area under the old bridge.
Question:
It has been closed for a while but looks open again all fixed up.
Do people catch fish there often?
How do you manage the current?
When and how is the best way to fish there. I assume Redfish, Bluefish would be good in that area.
Just never seen anyone catch anythng.

i have caught a few spanish on sabiki and gothca plugs. you can drift the current, if there aren't many people around, with live bait. other than that its just bait and lots of boats.

There are times fishing the Pass is exciting and times when it is dull. Just got to go to know.

Use the current to your advantage, don't 'fight' it.
Observe the current and fish away from the main channel IF it is during a period when the the tide is running fast.
Try the areas where the current moves into and away from farther west along the wall.
I watch the tide rise and fall to get an idea how hard the current will be and how much longer it will be running in that direction...

I would pay $ just to sit down with Pier#r with my notebook!!!

Most of it in in his notes by using the search.. She is a great person and very knowledgeable.

Pier#r knows more than I could fit in a dozen notebooks. Big notebooks. With the lines close together.

I'm still waiting to get ahold of his book!
