Vibrio Vulnificus is present in all tropical and most temperate salt waters in the world. Locally it is most present in the summer in the northern GoM.Quote:

Edit: I could not get the link to work before I posted, but I had seen the advisory. The "fecal" bacteria was not found in Alabama, but everybody always has a little vibrio around in the summer - world wide in warm water. Vibrio is related to cholera and is the one usually referred to as "flesh eating".
I would worry more about the drive down to the coast versus vibrio. Unless you are immune-compromised

Saw about the algae on National News last evening. Said water was released from Okeechobee to help flooding and contaminated waters downstream.

I believe all the FL beaches with advisories are back-bay areas.
Whole lotta fuss about nothing.
