I will be their the week of the 21st- again staying at approx 6 mile marker Fort Morgan- last year (thanks to this GREAT forum) my son and i did really well on pompano and whiting- we are looking forward to catching those again but would like to catch some bigger fish from beach- can you give me some ideas on my rigs (leader size hook size and bait) and types of fish to target- THANKS FOR YOUR HELP !
For bull redfish, try chunks of cut mullet, fished on bottom, no need for wire, just 20# mono leader and a stout sharp hook.
We need to spread rumors of soldier-ghosts at fort Morgan to keep people away. I've posted this a while back I copied and pasted;
My least favorite thing about surf fishing are the walkers and the swimmers. ugghhh That can get on my nerves! Especially the combo ones when they walk right into your line and then swim right underneath it! I just holler "Hooook!!" And it point at the line and it does the trick.
The walkers/joggers are just an added bonus to the beautiful scenery. :congratulatory:Quote:

It's my go-to and everything from reds to bigger whiting to specks, pomp, and flounder eat it and sometimes just pound it. Sometimes get live minnows too. I'll be down the 10th and while I've mainly given up on night fishing most nights (cause I'm getting old, and tired) we're going to try gigging in the surf if the conditions are decent one night/early morn.

You'll be disappointed with Trying to fish Fort Morgan Marina The docks were torn up by a storm they said and all are roped off except the one going straight out You said something about trying a light at night there which I had planned on trying too but will not be able to now due to the condition of the Marina Still plenty more places to fish
Yeah I never fish the marina either, just buy shrimp there
