braid size for spanish
What size braid do you guys use for throwing lures for spanish? Line capacity isn't the issue more interested in distance. I was thinking 15 or 20. Ill be throwing gotchas and medium hard baits. The only reason I was thinking about 20lb was incase a king hits and I can keep it away from the sharks a little easier. Any input will be welcomed. Thanks James

I have 300 yards of 20# braid on my BPS Inshore Extreme for throwing plugs and Bubble Rigs, but am considering dropping to 15# (or even 10#) to get 200 yards (or close to 250 yards) on a 2000 series Shimano reel for Gotchas and Looney jigs.

I like 20# PP.......allows me to yo-yo smaller spanish over the rail without fear. I think 10# might need a net for every fish.

I like 20lb as well because when the sharks are thick you can crank the fish in without working about the line breaking.

These people have stolen my closely guarded secrets---I use 20# braid for my bubble rigs, with 50# mono leader, and 10# mono for casting live shrimp and little LYs, also spoons and jigs. 50# mono leader except when I decide to use 10# or 15# braided wire. All for the same reasons given.

This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for an abundant fishery and a magnificent pier, from which to access that fishery. I'm thankful for the morning view of the sunrise and what a spectacular view it is...
Happy Thanksgiving!
