:headbang: :headbang:
sounds great. i wish we could make it.
Dang it! That's the week I have set aside to plant food plots for hunting season.
Just a Heads Up for everybody that doesnt have a Facebook account or isnt a member of Pierkingfishing page. A group of South and North Carolina pier fishermen are making a trip down here that weekend. They have a completely different style of king fishing up there so let's do our best to help them as much as possible and make them feel at home. It's gonna be a good weekend to be on the pier. Let's hope the fish cooperate.
Thanks for the heads up dublthret. That should be fun.

I don't know your personal schedule, but that isn't a good time to plant a food plot. This week, though maybe a bit early would be far better than the end of the first week in October.
dangit.. cant make it.. monthly recruit meeting that morning.. then heading to GA for sister's wedding :slap: :slap: :slap:
DRH---Actually, that's a little earlier than I normally do it---that's just when my helpers can get off. I quit planting early after the army worms destroyed my plots a couple of years and on other occasions the oats grew up too tall and tough to be palatable. I frequently plant right up to November (oats and wheat). The only time I plant early is to establish clover. Never had a problem getting a fine stand in time for gun season. October is generally so dry, you don't get much of a growth spurt until the November rains come along.
So ready to get back down to sling a bait or two. Who all is showing? See yall down there.
Good question Tbear, I was wondering the same thing.
Is it just gonna be me and Tony :fishing: ?
Count me in, sounds like fun!
I'm in!!!! Fin, is there a list of things to bring?
This is not going to be an all out food fest like the Annual Pier Picnic.
This is more like an informal Meet and Greet with Fishing, Food and Friends. Hopefully folks will bring some goodies to share, but the main focus is getting together and actually talking and getting to know each other.
The Old Farts vs Young Guns Shootout is for bragging rights until next year’s rematch and names of participants, both winners and losers will be listed on the forum for all to see. Hopefully someone will bring a camera and get a few pictures of the day.
There will be name tags for forum members to wear so we can put faces with names.
Update 10-4-2012 - Plans don’t always work as planned. Tofer has moved to Utah and I know that Pier#r can’t be there. I will try to be there, but looking iffy, and I am not sure about John G and Bubba. However the forum belongs
Although there haven’t been a lot of people say they are coming down, I have asked Bigdee/Dee, Tbear/Tony and AUinOveralls/Daniel, to ask forum members to wear a sticker with their forum name and real name so people can know who is on the forum. And also get a list of the members who show up, and commandeer one of the picnic tables on the Octi for any food items that folks may bring.
If there is interest in the Old Farts vs Young Guns Shootout, here is what I suggest to do.
Need a minimum of 10 forum member participants on each team to do the shootout and shootout starts when there are 10 or more members have signed up on both teams. Get a list of all OFs and YGs by forum name. (if someone who is not a forum member wants to play, just use their real name.)
Since there is no tangible prize, people can sign up and participate until the shootout ends at 2PM. If there aren’t enough forum members signed up by 10AM, the Shootout is canced.
• Old Farts are 40 years old and up
• Young Guns are 39 years old or younger
• Make sure someone has a scale and use same scale to weigh all the fish.
Rules:
• Team with highest aggregate weight of three King is the winner of Bragging Rights for the year.
• Weighing of fish will be witnessed by a member of both teams
• Only legal King will be eligible for weigh in. Two fish per angler.
Or wing it!
would be a darn fine anniversary present to me and my Bride of 34 years......hummmmmm....that would be a good angle anyway

they will be shocked with all the spin fishers being used to king fish....they told me...... kings couldn't be caught with spinning gear.....they used those for the anchor trolly rods..... when I was there
We will be down that Saturday, looking forward to meeting everyone..
well shootout or not should make for a good time. :headbang: :fishing: :headbang:
I will be there either way. As far as the tournament goes, I am in.
Wish I could be there. Thought about coming out before work, but I am going to take a second look at a house in the morning time. Ready to start the process, just need to have my dad look.it.over.
I'm going to be on a tractor up in Clarke County. Believe me, I'm more than ready to get back on the pier and I'm sorry I can't be there to meet folks I only know through this forum. Good times and good luck, everybody. (Power to the Old Farts.)
How ‘bout a big ol’ THANK YOU to Bigdee/Dee, Tbear/Tony and AUinOveralls/Daniel for stepping up to help make Saturday a fun day for all. After all this is everybody’s forum and the pier is a family thang.
Oh yeah, since everybody has a phone, we need lots of photos. If you can’t post ‘em, email them to me at: finchaserphotography@live.com
Thanks folks, and have fun! :headbang:
See the straglers Sunday. Everyone have a wonderful time tomm. I hope its a chewdown.
OK all, I'll be at the pier tomorrow morning nice and early. Please try to find me as soon as you can to get your name tags. For those of you who don't know me, big dude, 6'4, glasses. I'm Elainas husband and Sams stepdad. We usually have a table commandeered on the weekends. We need all the forum members we can to show up. I know there is nothing up but bragging rights for the shootout but it will be a blast if we can get everyone involved. Let me know when you get your nametag if you are gonna participate. I'll keep a list of who shows and who is in the shootout. Us old farts are looking forward to kicking some "young guns" :fishing: butt! :spank: Also, feel free to bring any kind of food item you want. If anyone would like to, feel free to leave a reply on here whether or not you're coming and if you're gonna bring any kind of food. Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you all on the octi tomorrow. V
I may be there now. Just got fired from my job and the home search I was doing is now on hold due to that as well. It will fo me good to fish with some friends for the day. At least have a little happiness in my current life. :'(
Rockinchef---That's too damned bad about the job, but you'll find a better one. Plenty of fishing time for a little while, anyhow.
I have a 50# digital Rappala scale we can use for the weighing since I will be there. Sorry, won't be bringing food due to the current lack of job. Gotta save money where I can. Thankfully I have enough tackle and my 6 month pass expires after tomorrow.
Good deal chef. See ya on the octi tomorrow!
ygs gonna woop some :spank: tommorow see yall out there hope everybody has a fun safe day
Sorry for the bad news Justin, hope things get better soon.
If donut shop is open on the way me and little brother are bringing donuts. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Well, looks like I'm out for tomorrow's meet and greet, have fun guys. Too bad, I was really looking forward to it.
