My vote is for artificial when I am in a boat or wade fishing...but when on the GSP I find it difficult to get the bait to act exactly the way I would like to to the height and angle. What is everyone else's opinions?

Agree 100%
Plus jig & strip on GSPPier (and a few other spots) can be VERY effective at times ;-)

I use jigs for flounder everywhere except the gulf coast piers for the same reasons you mention. It's easier for me to present a live minnow vs. a jig when presenting the bait in such a vertical fashion on the pier. i know that some have a lot of success with the jig/strip presentation on the gulf piers though, so that may be something i try more in the future. I don't fish the pier very often though and tend to gravitate towards the technique that has given me past success.
Live bait all the way...rarely do i use jigs for them
