As I was walking out toward the octi for a look around this afternoon, a man was fighting a king as it headed toward the mid. From the looks of his equipment, he may not have been too experienced, but he was chasing after his fish with a gaff man close behind. On the way he got tangled with a lady and they tried to get untangled, but couldn't, and the lady was the first to call for a knife to cut her line. I had my assisted opener in action right quick and told her that it was mighty nice of her. She said, "I'll cut my line for a king anytime," and her lady friend voiced her agreement. I know a lot of folks who feel the same way, but there are others who seem to feel that somebody fighting a fish is ruining their day. I wish they'd learn as good an attitude as these two ladies. Brightened up my day. (He got the king.)
I'll never forget last year when I was fighting a bull red that headed north, and encountered two men with four lines slack in the water. Not only did they make no effort to help me get past them, but they complained that I was going to tangle them up (no sh!t) and one of them informed me that I needed to control my fish. Wonder what color the sky on his planet is. (I lost the red.)
