My guess is March 17th.
Thanks Kingkiller
I'm going with March 28th
March 7 if the water is cleared up and the weather cooperates. March 22 if it doesn't cooperate
Considering Cobia like water temps of at least 68 and right the the buoy shows 60-62 it will probably be a few more weeks till first caught. I predict last week of March, no specific date.
Catching cobia from the pier is true combat fishing. Those who participate are intense, aggressive, dedicated and the kind of people who practice for cobia season by standing on the roof of the house casting at a five gallon bucket (or smaller) at distances that are hard to believe. If I catch one, it'll be an accidental hookup on a king bait---I've given up staring at the water until my eyeballs touch the inside of my sunglasses, waiting for one of those crabcrunchers to show up.
March 23rd and have there been any spanish or kings yet?
Yes theres been spanish but no kings, but only a few and they've been the keychains...aka really small ones haha. But the water is still just too cold for any of the pelagic species of fish to come in close to the pier yet.
