Heading to the "The Bar" in the morning
PLanning on a trip to Dixey Bar in the morning. The tide turns at 7:40, so it fits well with the wife's schedule. A quick trip to J&M for bait at the Fort by 8, and then making the hike out.
Q1 - does J&M have mud minnows?
Q2 - can we pay to park at the park and walk out?
Q3 - will 2 oz be enough weightGood times, Good friends, Great Beer. You can buy all three - But it's always better to invest the time to make your own.

Q1= Gulf Shores Marina has bull minnows, if J&M is out of the way. Q2= Parking at the Fort will shorten the walk. Q3= Wish I knew. We won't be there till Saturday.

Make sure your car is out of the forts parking by 5pm otherwise you are locked in. The marina might also have live shrimp now. But definitely call first

Lol, first visit by us to the Bar, we parked at the Fort and spent the night out there. When they close the gates, you can hang it up unless there is an emergency. That is one of our favorite memories, though, being stuck and liking it. Young and foolish, and newly wed, what can we say?

Been There, Done that...I had 2 runs, wife caught a shark.
Gulf Shores Marina has Shrimp and Bull minnows, but most were small.
For all those that warned us - that was one heck of a hike for an old guy and a wife with a bum ankle. But it was a great day.
We just have been in the right spot because there was 10 boats anchored up just out of casting distance.
I can see the possibilities, good current, plenty of bait and puppy drum cruising the shore. Birds diving all around and clear water line....just no luck today.
But I wil give praise to a great wife. The shark strike caught her deep in her chair and struggling to make it to the rod. A face plant dive in the sand kept the entire rig from sailing south into the gulf. She was spitting sand and setting the hook! I am a lucky man.
lets bet the pier was on fire today.....Good times, Good friends, Great Beer. You can buy all three - But it's always better to invest the time to make your own.
