How much rain and bad weather are our friends in Gulf Shores and the surrounding areas getting from Harvey?
Rainbands have been rolling through for the past 24 hours.
VERY heavy in spots where localized flash floods have occurred.
Winds on the coastline have built overnite and sustained in the 25-30 knot range with some higher gusts near the squalls.
Seas built quickly to 6+ feet then 7'-9' since daylight.
This pushed tides up more than a foot above predicted levels (high tide was about 6 am this morning).
Still not quite as 'bad' for us as TS "Cindy", but a pretty nasty kick nevertheless!
Over 6" in some parts in the last 24 hours.

I drove from O.B. to Foley and was tempted to turn around and go rent a kayak to ride some of the Class II rapids in the ditches alongside the Expressway, but I got scared when I saw the size of some of the whirlpools. Reminded me of back in the day when some of the young adventurers in Orange Beach would water ski in the ditches alongside Canal Rd., being pulled behind a Jeep.
We got another 2" overnight last night but it seems like we're going to get a break now.
It was raining in GS at sunup (time 6:30am) today, so Steve Jones had to take pics of the rain squalls from the Royal Palms condo...

Do I spy HR out there? LOL
So far the 'silver lining' behind this cloud is that the heavy rains only slightly raised the river levels in northern & central Alabama and the tropical rainband that plagued us yesterday is continuing to shift eastward out of the area.
It has left behind a good bit of localized flooding in south and central Baldwin County though...
Southeast RFC
With 'Moderate' flooding in the Styx River @ Hwy 98 in Elsanor, but just 'Action' level on the Perdido River.
This water should quickly drain off, but watch for drops in salinity at Perdido Pass over the coming days.
This could effect the water clarity and salinity early next week, but it remains to be seen how much.
For now at least, it doesn't appear to be near the scale and scope of the floods we saw after TS "Cindy" earlier this summer.
Another thing this cloudy, rainy event has done is drop the ambient water temperatures 5 degrees (or more).
It is now down into the lower 80s, which is quite low for the end of August.
