For those blessed few that live local, you don't know the anticipation us part timers endure before we return to paradise. I try not to let myself get too wrapped up until we are at least a month out.
Tommorrow I start checking off a well worn list of "must pack"items
You think it's bad for you... at least you live in a state with salt water access! It's minimum 12 hours in a car for me to get to salt water.

Apologies for the delayed reply...I have fished most of the piers from Savannah to Hatteras, but none come even close to GSSP pier, even on a bad day. Anything south of Myrtle Beach is dirty, stained at best. The outer banks can be really good at times, but it's hit or miss - and usually best in the fall. The surf is rough as a Cobb, and usually choked with sea weed.
I am about 4hrs to Charleston, but don't even take my gear when we go to the beach on Folly.
Our inshore is AWSOME, but you have to have access to a boat to get to the good stuff. The rivers around Hilton Head are full of Cobia at certain times, but again you have to have a boat to get out on the flats. Tarpon stack up on the bridges in most all of our rivers near the ocean. A big bull red is 24", and kings take 2 rods to catch. Flounder are decent, and can be found most of the year - but scattered. Croaker are dominant, if you can get through the pin fish.
Have written that, if want to fish, fellowship and feel welcomed every time, my truck goes South, not East.

You have much more discipline than I. I started my list and purchases upon getting home from our last trip. A year later and I have plenty of x-raps to give the sharks. And more sibiki rigs than I'll ever use. Not to mention king leaders made for cigar minnows. Now if retirement could just get here sooner so I can be one of the regulars. I hope be able to learn the tricks of the trade and pay it forward the way so many on here have done for me and countless others. Tight lines everyone!
