I don't use a 706Z because it is stylish. I use it because of the manual bail. There is nothing like a manual bail for allowing you to finesse a fish and be totally in contact with your lure or bait. Flipping a bail is clumsy when you are teasing a king, cobia, or dolphin, and sometimes the bail spring isn't strong enough to flip it over when you are ready to set the hook or work the bait. Also, a 706Z is just the right weight. Shimano Spheros's are nice for drift-lining off a boat and they have a good drag, but since they quit making the 12000 you can't get one you can fish with comfortably all day long. The 706Z also holds the perfect amount of line, 300 yards of 20 lb. test. That is spot-on for kingfishing or tarpon fishing. It also casts 25 lb. test well if you are targeting ling. But, I admit, I do like the sound of a fish burning line off that roller. Gets my adrenaline pumping.

Speaking of Jacks, I saw a few today!

I would freakin' love to diving underneath them when circled up. Cannot imagine how ultimately cool that would be to look up and see that from the bottom side.

Within this past week they've showed up out here, there's literally thousands. You can smell the fish just in the air around the platform. Kind of neat seeing them swim all in sync like they do.

its really good fishing when the reds come in with them also 10-15 hook ups is awesome!

David, I wondered the same thing. I've kind of periodically been watching them today. There's a large school of them that stay seperated from the rest. They're schooled up close together and basically swimming in circles.

The other thousands just kind of swim around together doing whatever. There's plenty of bait around but they're not really after it. Just chilling out I guess.

Seeing them in such numbers in such a small place as compared to the entire Gulf certainly adds some perspective.....

pretty water but how far out were u when u seen them??
