Goes anyone know about boat ramps?
Do you know the status of Ft. Morgan fishing/walking the dog on the Bayside?
I spoke with an Alabama Conservation & Natural Resources officer last night. He said the boat ramps were open, Alabama Point (Perdido Pass), and the Gulf Shore Pier were open for fishing.
The island north of Perdido Pass bridge was in full swing this weekend with several hundred people. I just don't get it...
Too many people with the instant gratification/"all about me" mind set. They do what they want with no regard for how it might affect anyone else. They're willing to risk their own health, and everyone else's too. It won't cost them anymore if their neighbors get sick.
Thanks to the efforts of AL DCNR and State Park officials the boat ramps and GSPPier are still open to the public.
Pier patrons are limited to 200 and those are required to maintain 'social distancing'.
Be responsible when utilizing these facilities and what pictures and reports you post (or see posted) to reflect well on the efforts to keep boat ramps and the pier open.
This is what 'negative' press can do (quickly)...

This is what I was getting at Chile.Y'all please keep your keep your mouth shut. Text, call, send a telegram or passenger pigeon to friends, but keep the social media stuff down or it will end quick.

Drove by the pier last night- 2 cruisers parked at entrance.
I went to the pier this afternoon and there were a lot of tourists/walk-ons/non-fishers especially in the 3:00 to 5:00 window.
..............?........
As said before be careful what we post. Let us be greatful that we can fish. Remember the distancing rules. Wash hands. And all social rules.
Well okey-dokey, done been singled out twice by name for one post
Not like anyone else doesn't post reports of their good days.
Okay JohnG, I'm done here and maybe better clam up on Facebook/GS Pier Rats too.
Social distancing ya know.
Chilie when are you going to share some of your cooking photos? Maybe some more of your favorites. Maybe you could print a cookbook.
Does anyone know if the bay side beach at Ft. Morgan is closed? The state order on closed beaches defined "beach" as the sandy area abutting the Gulf of Mexico.
Not true for GSSP Pier. Fished again today and visitors (walkers) were being admited.
I was talking with the lady in the office this morning, and she said there was no distinction being made between walkers and fishermen. She said that if you came to go fishing and the pier was full, all you had to do was sit down and wait for some of the walkers to leave and you could go ahead.
Please do. I love to read your recipes. I just wish I could print them. That is above my pay grade
Did they close the pier at 5:00 PM last night? I don't see any Saturday reports or Sunday posts.
Morning video each day on pier rats fb, it's still open,
you might have seen the 2012 post stating the closing before a storm I noticed today
No, a friend & neighbor of mine came over to fish Saturday, and someone told him they were closing the pier at 5:00 P.M. I didn't see a post on Sunday, so was worried. Thanks for your response - it is refreshing to have courteous people on this website.
Can someone advise if the seawall at Perdido pass, on Alabama side, is open for fishing? Thank/you
