Kayak fishing near Orange Beach??

I'm making my first visit to the Alabama coast the week of October 30th and hoped to get a few days fishing (either inshore or slightly offshore) atop my yak. If anyone could help me with identifying access points or launches close to areas that should be considered, I'd be grateful. I'm hoping that both redfish and trout may be targeted and would consider alternatives if not. Any bait/lure & tackle recommendations that work well locally would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance for any insight that you may offer.

Good place to fish inshore is Little Lagoon. Mostly Medium to heavy freshwater will work. Make sure that you wash it off real well after each use. Salt will destroy everything metal. Good cleaning when you get home. Good Luck

I use Jeff Friend Launch a lot for Little Lagoon, love it there, some of the others depending on where I want to fish. Wolf Bay, Cotton Bayou, etc. There is another launch I use for Cotton Bayou that is not listed on Pier's list or the Orange Beach PDF canoe trail list. I learned of it last year, it's at the end of Jublilee Point Ave on Cotton Bayou and you can avoid the boat launching action if you use it and want to fish Cotton Bayou. Alabama Point can get real interesting for the inexperienced, the tides flow pretty good, lots of big boats fishing around the bridge pilings, charters and sightseeing boats coming and going to Gulf, yeah real interesting, water going in all directions, watch out for yourself. But, I've had some cool trips in that area, Dolphins and sea turtles checking you out, nice fish, etc. Another new one I learned this year is Aquila Seafood for Bon Secour River. My month long visit ended Sunday, so I'm feeling ill as I type this :(.

Daniel - Thanks for the response and the note of caution provided. I've heard of Little Lagoon and wondered if the recent storms that have walloped the Gulf impacted this area. I will check out the FB group you mentioned. Sean

Ken - I appreciate the info you added. Curious about your timing of your visit - does it correspond to a seasonal pattern with fishing here or it unrelated? Your comment on the dicey conditions around Alabama Pt have convinced me that this might be a good spot to avoid. Thanks. Sean

Weve been coming down in the fall for years, actually just started bringing the kayak down. And I came down 3 times this spring and summer, just whenever I feel ready and can break away. That was just a headsup on Alabama Pt, it can be like being in a tub drain vortex. Now that is right under the bridge, if you stay around the islands and away fron traffic you should be fine.
