king rod blank
I have a question for the local experts here I am a Alabama native but on army recruiting duty down in Houston. I have a local rod builder here that will build me a rod. My question is what is a good king blank and guides to use for a free lining live bait that will serve double duty for me on the jetties to catch kings here in Texas as well as when I get back home to go to the pier I will be throwing mullet and small croaker down here and ly back home I basically want a light action rod that will handle a king I will be using a 704z reel

Thanks for your service. This is a well discussed topic and the search will yield tons of info. Here's a starter that has lots of good discussion on the topic:
questions on getting new king rod (k-series guide question)
edited to add: John G owns J&M and is a rod builder from way back. Any post you find by him regarding king rods is worth reading twice or three times.Screw it. Let's ride.
