    Large hook sabiki?

I keeps seeing these referenced. I have never seen one, I don't reckon. Does anyone have a picture of one or a link to where I would find them.

    Thanks in advance,

    Phil

I bought some by mistake from amazon. They were Chinese made and the hook size didn't make sense to me, probably just me not knowing what I was looking at. I would guess the hook size was around a 2. They were so cheap I didn't return them but found out they worked really well on the big Croakers off the octi in the fall.

A local sharpy at Navarre, Ms. Pat, recommended size 12 gold hooks on 4 lb floro for bait catching. That was the predominate local use aside from the sabiki brigade (seekers of coolers of smaller fish for specialized use). Of late, tourist users seeking action are another group.

I just saw several forums posting Spanish on em. I had always fished Bubble rigs, and Gotchas and white crappie jigs and was thinking of adding another weapon to my arsenal.

As I typed that it struck me I could just make a set with Crappie jigs to try.

Its amazing what an old mind will come up with given enough time to ponder over something.....now on to other ideas.

I've never used them on Spanish but I wouldn't be opposed to it either. I try to see who's catching fish and follow their lead. For me, catching fish is better than looking masterful.

I saw this a few days ago. Looks easy and looks like they would make a stout sabiki type rig or a good thing to put behind a bubble.

Not saying you won't catch bigger fish but...….even back in the days of our unbridled "sabiki brigade" I never saw many Spanish over a pound caught on sabiki rigs or "mackerel tree" rigs. Most were "key chain" size or slightly larger. David Lea ties up a rig with a couple of crappie jigs that put a hurtin' on them a couple of weeks ago. I thought about tying up a rig with 3 or 4 just to see if it would catch bigger fish but my chronic severe laziness set in.
