Reminds me brother, I caught an undersized once while reeling in a baby hardhead catfish. Dang cobia will eat anything that gets near their mouth!! :banana:

The 56lbr I caught two years ago had three hard heads in its stomach.

I have been told that hardheads/sailcats are almost as good as eels for ling bait.

At least they have some form of use in the food chain.

I tried fishing dead catfish before and caught ... you guessed it--more catfish.

On two occasions I have caught fish while reeling in a catfish that took my cutbait: one a cobia and the other a redfish. My brother PJ also caught his largest redfish on a catfish he was reeling in.

I guess they have to be alive to count as a food item.

Either way, I still wouldn't consider them a "prime" bait--more like a "last resort." I'd rather use jery's AU jig. :headbang:

Been told the same thing.....but also told to cut the barbs(fins) off too....and let them swim

:headbang:iam going to put some pic up this weekend ;had a bad last week the doc put me on heart meds; ; i got three ala jigs made up amd got stuff to do AU ;just need to get to feeling better!!!!!
