Not familiar with the Dauphin Island area... is there somewhere decent to throw a cast net for shrimp? Having a hard time telling what is grassy marsh areas on Google earth. Also, are shrimp around in July around here?

Just go to Jemisons. Way easier and you will not tear your net up.
Gotta agree, consistently catching shrimp anywhere with a cast net is tough. Easier to buy them.
Jemisons is a nice/friendly little bait shop and they usually have a half decent selection of bait.
Not much besides basic tackle and a few lures and what-nots.
Nice thing is they open early and close late.
Jeminsons is where I buy my bait when fishing DI or Ft. Morgan.
Ok, thank you. I guess I wont waste too much time trying to get catch my own then. Usually in the Carolinas I can just hit the marsh a few minutes each evening for a bucket full for the next morning. With as fast as shrimp go, I hate paying $4-5 per dozen each day.
