Pinfish, remora, hardtail (Blue Runner), Bluefish, Ladyfish, (maybe spanish mackerel, jack crevelle, shark, etc.)
That's one of the best remora spots on the pier. Have also seen a few flounder caught there.
Thanks. I fought the urge to go straight to the end. Didn't want to get in any bodies way. Lol now I'm losing my cigar minnows.
Likely pinfish!
Might some some small spadefish in that vicinity as well...
If you go to the octi and you're not in the way you're not doing it right. Find a spot and cast straight out and be willing to go over or under the guy-girl next to you. Move down the rail with your bait as wind and current diictate. Get out of the way-duck and dodge if someone hooks up a big fish to avoid tangles and break-offs.
Easiest way to fish the octi is just go to the down wind/current side and drift/snobble a cigar minnow. The farther away you are the less likely you will be to get tangled when a good sized fish picks it up.
If the wind is opposite the current sometimes you can use a balloon to push him away from the pier. You can get as many or more bites close to the pier, but a good fish will get you tangled fast if there are many lines in the water.
Thanks everybody for the advice. Today was my first time fishing the pier. Although I Didn't catch anything to brag about it was an awesome day.
Mana---you paid your money and you have as much right out there as anybody (except me) and as long as you follow chillinfish's advice and be polite, you shouldn't have any trouble. Heck, if they put up with me..............
