Though several piers claim the title, which is actually the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico?
Okaloosa Island Pier? (1262 feet) ha-ha!
Pensacola Pier? (1471 feet) Nope
Panama City Piers? (1500 feet) Wrong
Gulf State Park Pier? (1540 feet) Uh-uh
Navarre Pier? (1545 feet) negative
Pensacola Bay Fishing Bridge (2500 feet) *yawn*
Sunshine Skyway? in Tampa Bay (about 1.75 miles) Not even close!
The longest pier on the gulf of Mexico can't even be viewed using conventional photography.
You must view it from space to see the whole thing.
Progesso's Prolonged Pier (on the northern coast of Mexico's Yucatan Penninsula) is by far the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico at 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) and one of the longest structures of its kind in the world.
It is used as a cruise ship dock.

Here is the same area on Google Maps...

OK, maybe the South Skyway Bridge is the longest FISHING pier on the Gulf of Mexico, but wouldn't it be cool to see what fish can be caught 4 miles out in the Gulf!
