Thinking about buying a fishing cart, like the idea that this one is collapsible. Can use it where I live and should be easily transported when I visit the Pier/beach.

carts seem to be personal things to some....if that fits your needs and budget....get it....I have the traditional one now...but didn't start with it, and may need to change in the future when the vehicle needs replaced that we have saved for our trips down there with plenty of room for everything I bring....should just move closer
wheres the cooler going to be?....that was one of my first with rod holders mounted on the sides of it(cooler)
I would be extremely..... happy, happy, happy :bang
That looks like a good idea.
Where's the cooler going to be? Didn't I tell you I had a wife?...she can carry it! LOL! Thanks for the input ironman.
Was also looking at this one for about half the price but maybe not as useful...

J&M has those Berkley's on display. Look pretty good actually.
This is what I use just add some PVC pipe for rod holders.the sides and handle are removable if space is an issue. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C66...110_SY165_QL70
The wheels, tow handle, front caster, and bait board come off my aluminum reels on wheels cart for storage-transport pretty easily. Luckily I come down in a pickup and don't have to disassemble it. I just need a cheap way to add a bait bucket carrier.
J&M has those for a bait bucket not sure of the price....I thought of trying to make one, just haven't yet needed it bad enough.....just one more thing and it would take up a rod holder....can't have that...
One day, I won't want to bend over to reach it on the deck, so I guess that will fill the need order
How do you guys think the Berkley cart would do around the Fort Morgan area? We're renting a beach house down there and would rather not be dragging a 2 wheeled anchor. Thinking the tires will help in that respect. Know for the Pier it would be ok.
The rubber tires tend to sink in the sand, where the Wheeleez tires roll on top of the sand. Wheeleez tires are really pricey because they really work on sand, super pliable and about 2 or 3 PSI.
The bid issue with anything on the sand is weight; don't the cart with anything you don't absolutely have to have that trip!
I have a couple Wheeleez Beach Carts and they are great, but like anything else, the more you load it, the harder it is to pull in the sand.
If you're looking for cheap and something to be used in the sand, check out some snow sleds. A very knowledgable forum member has been known to sled the beaches in search of some fishes!
Well I'm kinda leaning towards the Berkley. May not be the very best bet for the Gulf, but up here in Wisconsin on Lake Superior it may be the best of both worlds.
"You strangely interest me, stranger". Never would have thought of that. A toboggan might slide across sand or pavement if not loaded too heavily. People may look at someone with such a rig as a real idiot...but it's not like that has never happened before!!!!
A toboggan would actually be a good idea, and we have several. But there is no chance in hell I'm going to transport it one thousand, three hundred and forty one. one miles! We're trying to get away from anything winter! LOL!
i bought a collapsible garden cart at sam's and added rod holders.
I'm thinking ,David , Pier#r uses a plastic sled to transport rods ,reels cooler ,bait ,ghost shrimp sucker ......... over the beach sands and it seems to do a great job for him . If not mistaken in the forum archives there is a discussion concerning rigging a sled for this purpose .???
I know that #r uses some type of sled and gives it a good review. He will probably chime in with details on what he uses.
Or you could shoot him a PM.
one of those portable concrete mixing tubs..... would work too....leave it behind for the 13.00...just add a rope and go...maybe a couple bungee's too

BDL, we have the Berkley folding carts @ BPS and honestly I am not 'a fan' of them.

They would be OK for the pier but the tires are no better than the more popular aluminum carts and it is a little heavier.
But IMHO the major engineering weakness is in all the seams and flexible joints. It is 'stiff' to open and close and I can't imagine what it would be like after a few uses with some sand and corrosion thrown in...
Yes, I have used a 48" plastic toboggan for shore fishing the past ten years and really like it.

They are relatively cheap (about $15 each with shipping) and very durable on the sand.
And the tapered shape allows them to more easily traverse over sand bumps and obstructions than the flat fronted toboggans and tubs.
The beginning of this video features it in action...

Hope this helps!
those sleds should work good ...but what do I know....I am only familiar to them on snow
Thanks Pier, we actually have about 3 of them in our garage.
Even though it looks like it works really well, my only concern would be all the "eye rolling" I'd get from my wife and kids.
Have to tell you living close to the beach for quite a while, the sled is by far the best way to haul stuff across the sand. I ordered a utility sled through walmart, and did site to store and picked it up. I think it was about $20, and its big enough to fit chairs, a bucket, rod holders, and a cooler. I also had a pier cart as well but it just doesn't do sand all to well unless its super lightly packed. (Like nothing on it but rods and a small tackle box.) I honestly preferred to just walk to the beach with a backpack with a little tackle, and a rod when I wasn't staying long. You don't have to do complicated, just have fun!
yep the few times I have ...just went with rod and a few jigs....cast and walk, cast and walk
Thanks for the help guys!
Think I'm going with this...
